Traits of a Virtuous Woman

The Traits of A Virtuous Woman

Proverbs 31:10-31

The following traits of a virtuous woman tell us that she is special in God’s eyes. If you have fallen short of this, know that if you have repented and accepted Jesus into your lives, you are now considered a virtuous woman - why? Because His Word says when we confess and repent of our sins, all is forever wiped away never to be remembered again. What an awesome promise that is.

1.  Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.

There is no greater value than what God sees - not even the most expensive and costly

jewels or metals known to mankind.

2.  The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain.

The husband can concentrate on providing for the household because he knows she

has things at hand at home.

3.  She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.

Again the husband has no worries because she is faithful to him.

4.  She seeks wool and flax and willingly works with her hands.

She does not sit around idle, but keeps busy keeping her household in order.

5. She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar.

She shops for the needs of the family making sure her family is fed and dressed

     properly.

6.  She also arises while it is yet dark and provides food for her household, and a

      portion for her maidservants.

She prepares food early for her husband and children. And she makes sure those

working for her are fed as well.

7.   She considers a field and buys it; from the fruit of her hand she plants a

      vineyard.

She is wise in business dealings making sure to be a good steward with the provisions

      of her husband.

8.  She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms.

Again she keeps busy and fit to stay healthy.

9.  She perceives that her merchandise is good and her lamp does not go out by

      night.

She has a product to sell and ensures it is ready before going to sleep.

10.  She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle

A distaff is a stick - she makes clothing for her family.

11.  She extends her hand to the poor. Yes, she reaches out her hands to the

        needy.

She shows compassion towards others without thought.

12.  She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household is clothed

        with scarlet.

She makes sure she provides adequate clothing for her family.

13.  She makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple.

She makes her house beautiful; she makes sure she looks good for her husband.

14.  Her husband is known at the gates, when he sits among the elders of the

        land.

She brings honor to her husband always.

15.  She makes fine linen garments and sells them, and supplies sashes to the

        merchants.

She makes things to sell to help take care of the families needs.

16.   Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come.

She knows her heart and good standing. She has good self-esteem.

17.  She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of

        kindness.

She is careful what she speaks and never speaks badly about anyone, not even her

       husband.

18.  She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of

        idleness.

She keeps track of everything in her house. She gives attention to the husband and

her children. She does not sit around doing idle things (i.e. eating all day, watching

soap operas or watching TV game shows)

19.  Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also and he praises her.

        Her family honors her

20.  Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.

No one can compare her to others; she is set high above others; she is special in God

       and her husbands sight.

21.  Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord,

        she shall be praised.

She, of her own accord, is not perfect, but when she fears the Lord she shall be lifted

        up.

22.  Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the

        gates.

By doing everything to the glory of God without expecting a reward, she still receives

recognition for her faithfulness in all things.
